Business Description
The Fresno Folklore Society (FFS) is a non-profit corporation founded for the purpose of preserving folk arts, especially traditional music, in California's San Joaquin Valley.
We sing, we dance, we play music, and some tell stories. Above all we have fun and provide venues for the community to hear and enjoy "alternative" music. We cater to fans of all sorts of music: Old-Time, Bluegrass, Cajun, Irish and other Celtic music, as well as swing and traditional jazz, Armenian, Greek, Balkan--just to name a few. In addition to helping our local Fresno Folk artists to perform and obtain publicity, FFS over the years has provided a venue for touring traditional artists.
Membership is open to the community: $15 per year, individual; $25 family. On July first to goes up to $20 and $30. Go to http://www.fresnofolklore.org/ to sign up. In addition to fun, work, and being part of a joyful community, benefits to members include a monthly newsletter and calendar of upcoming events and a discount for our concerts when you pay at the door the day of the concert. We do encourage families. The Folklore society is a family affair. Children are welcome to all events--well, almost all.
